The Embassy organized a special candlelight yoga session for yoga experts on 22 June 2026 at the Chancery lawn beside Mahatma Gandhi bust. This marked the conclusion to the International Day of Yoga celebrations 2026, reaffirming the values of mindfulness, harmony and well-being. The session was led by former Embassy Teacher of Indian Culture (TIC) Dr. Dheeraj Prakash Joshi. Certificates of appreciation were handed over to embassy-trained expert yoga instructors for their contribution in continuing the yoga classes after departure of TIC from Baghdad. A closing speech was given by Ambassador Soumen Bagchi in which he thanked everyone for their zealous participation and invaluable contribution in making the IDY 2026 a huge success. This was followed by an Indian dinner for all the participants. Celebrations for IDY 2026 are over but yoga classes in the Indian Embassy are not. So Register Now.

Baghdad Celebrates the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 with Unprecedented Enthusiasm. The grand celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 in Baghdad concluded on a truly inspiring note, bringing together more than 270 yoga enthusiasts in a vibrant display of unity, wellness, and collective spirit. The event venue resonated with a unique and uplifting yogic energy as young and old, men and women, from all walks of life came together to celebrate the timeless wisdom of yoga. Their enthusiastic participation reflected the growing acceptance of yoga as a pathway to physical well-being, mental harmony, and inner peace, and demonstrated that yoga has found a welcoming home in the hearts of the Baghdad community. Baghdad Gears Up for the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026. In the run-up to the12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Embassy of India in Baghdad, in collaboration with 650 Gym at The Gallery, organized a special promotional yoga program on 13 June 2026 for members of the diplomatic community and prominent social media influencers in Baghdad. Session was led by Dr. Dheeraj Prakash Joshi, Yoga Guru. The event highlighted yoga’s universal appeal as a pathway to physical well-being, mental balance, and inner harmony, while strengthening bonds of friendship and understanding among diverse communities. Empowering Leadership through Yoga. As part of the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Embassy of India in Baghdad held a special yoga session for a group of women entrepreneurs and business leaders at the offices of the Iraqi Business Women Council in Baghdad. The session was led by Embassy-trained instructor Ms. Noor Younis. The gathering celebrated the shared belief that success is most meaningful when accompanied by balance and well-being. The participants expressed their appreciation to the Embassy for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to joining the grand celebration of the International Day of Yoga 2026 in Baghdad on 20 June 2026. Ambassador Soumen Bagchi thanked the Council for its active partnership in promoting yoga among 25 members. He invited Dr. Maha Al-Obaidi, Founding Member of the Council, to explore ways to strengthen business ties between the two countries, in collaboration with the Embassy. Yoga Meets Music: #IDY2026 Promotional Event at School of Music & Ballet, Baghdad. A special promotional event for the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 was organized by the Embassy of India in Baghdad at the School of Music and Ballet, Ministry of Culture, Baghdad. Students of the school participated in the yoga session, which was led by Embassy instructor Dr. Sura Al-Jabouri. Ambassador Soumen Bagchi, Dr. Faiz Salem, DG Ministry of Culture and Director of the school joined the gathering after the session. A short violin recital was given by a student. Required qualifications are:

Graduate in any subject (English medium)
