Visa Services for Iraqi Nationals

INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS

Embassy of India, Baghdad issues Business, Family, Journalist, Medical, Miscellaneous, Student, Transit, Tourist, Work visas to applicants who are Iraqi nationals or foreigners resident in Iraq.

Processing of Student & Business Visa applications may take 35-40 working days.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATION

  1. Applications are required to be filled-in online using "Internet Explorer" or "Google Chrome" at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa.
  2. In case of any issue related to security certificate with browsers, you may INSTALL SECURITY CERTIFICATE
  3. Please select Indian Mission IRAQ-BAGHDAD.
  4. Please note down the Temporary Application ID: (Your Information will be saved if you click save button or continue to next page. If you exit without doing either of that, your information will be lost. Minimum field required for partial save is up to Date of Birth).
  5. Please fill in all the particulars including permanent and current address, e-mail Id, mobile and phone nos. correctly. Also please mention the name and phone of references/contacts correctly. Applications without complete details are liable to be rejected.
  6. Please upload your recent colour photograph (2 inches x 2 inches taken in light background).
  7. The Visa Application No. generated must bear barcode starting with IRQB.
  8. Please take a print of the application after completing and submitting online and sign it in ink under the photograph and at the end of the application on page 2.

Applicant is requested to present the signed print-out of the online-filled application form along with all required documentation at the M/s VFS Global in Baghdad or in Basra on any working day between 0900 hrs to 1230 hrs for Visa services.

There is no requirement of a prior appointment for submission of applications.

Applicants are attended to on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The applicant must present himself for capturing biometric data at M/s VFS Global Baghdad or Basra, in case the same have not been captured during the last five years.

All original documents are required to be kept ready for verification during submission of Visa application, and these will be returned after verification.

**Diplomatic, Official or Service, UN and Ordinary Passport-holders requiring Indian visa should submit their application directly to Consular Wing of Embassy of India, Baghdad, between 0900 hrs to 1230 hrs on any working day, along with all requisite documents.

Documents for all categories of visas

  1. Printed copy of the online visa application form with two recent photograph (2" x 2" - White background) duly signed on first and last page.

  2. Original passport (with a copy) with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity from the proposed date of entry in India.

  3. In case of dual nationality, applicants must submit copies of all passport and its particulars page. Please note that original passports (in addition to the Iraqi passport held by applicant) can be sought for verification.

  4. Copy of Iraqi national ID. Foreign applicants will need to provide a copy of their valid Iraqi residence permit.

Additional documents required for specific categories of visas

Business visa: Business visas are normally issued to those applicants who intend to go to India for genuine business purposes.

  • Letter of invitation from Indian firm/company, containing details of the individuals invited, period, duration, places and purpose of visit, along with full name, address, telephone and mobile no., email Id of the authorised signatory.

  • Registration certificate of Indian firm/company (Certificate of Incorporation)

  • Letter of Employment from Iraqi company/firm (in case of employees),

  • Registration details of the Iraqi company (from local chamber of commerce)

  • Proof of financial standing (latest Bank Statement) of the Iraqi company.

  • Copy of Iraqi Business registration is also required.

Sports persons going to India for participation in international sporting events are required to apply for Business Visa. Visa will be issued for the duration of sporting event. Officials/Coaches/Trainers etc. accompanying the players will also need to apply for Business Visa. Documents required include:

  • Invitation from Concerned Sports Association/Authority in India

  • Recommendation letter from Concerned Sports Association in Iraq

  • Approval from Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Persons intending to attend international conference/ seminar/ workshop, may also apply for Business Visa. Documents required include:

  • Letter of invitation from the Indian organiser(s) of the event, clearly mentioning the date, time, venue, and nature of conference.

  • Prior clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

  • Political clearance from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and the nodal Ministry.

Medical visa: Medical Visa is issued for the purpose of seeking medical treatment in recognised/specialised treatment centres in India. Medical documents establishing the need for medical treatment in India along with the acceptance of treatment from a recognised medical institution in India are necessary to consider grant of Medical Visa. Visa applications are supported by the following documents:

  • Invitation letter (with auto generated barcode) from recognized Hospital in India. In case of medical attendant, his name with passport number must be endorsed in the Medical invitation letter. Medical Attendant visa is issued to family members/attendants of patients (Maximum 2 persons) who are granted Medical visa to undergo treatment in India.

  • Recommendation letter from treating Doctor from Iraq to undergo treatment in India.

  • Proof of financial standing/availability of money to spend during the stay in India.

  • If the patient does not require medical attendant in India during his treatment period, a certificate should be enclosed with his visa application stating that no medical attendant is required during the treatment period in India.

Tourist Visa: This visa is issued to those, whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, attending a short-term yoga programme, short duration medical treatment including treatment under Ayush systems/ Indian systems of medicine, short term courses on local languages, music, dance, arts & crafts, cooking, medicine etc. which should not a formal or structured course/ programme (courses not exceeding 6 months duration and not issued with a qualifying certificate/ diploma etc.), and voluntary work of short duration (for a maximum period of one month, which do not involve any monetary payment or consideration of any kind in return). etc. and no other purpose/ activity. Visa applications are supported by the following documents:

  • Confirmed hotel booking in India and return air tickets.

  • Proof of availability of funds/bank statement for the duration of stay in India.

Student visa: Student Visa is issued for pursuing regular and full time academic studies in India. No other activities like business, employment, etc., are permitted. It is normally issued for the duration of the course of study. The applicant should submit proof of admission to a recognized educational institution in India along with documents certifying recognition of the educational institution in India by concerned Government agency. (All foreign students who wish to study in India are required to register themselves with their details on the portal www.studyinindia.gov.in. Upon successful registration, a unique ID (SII-ID) is generated in the form of Year-Country ISD Code-Unique Identifier Code (example for Iraq, like 26-964-0000123456). This ID is mandatory for applying for an Indian Student Visa through the Indian Visa Portal. Kindly note that applications for the Student Visas will be processed by the Embassy only after verification of the mandatory student ID and the offer letter uploaded by the University/college).

Foreigners who intend to study yoga should apply for Student Visa. The Yoga institution should be recognised by Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. of India, for admitting foreign students. Visa applications are supported by the following documents:

  1. Letter of admission from recognized Indian institution where admission has been secured.

  2. Qualifying examination mark sheet from the Iraqi University.

  3. Letter from parents regarding financial support along with his/her Iraqi national ID copy and/or Bank statements. Proof of funds to support the applicant’s stay and expenses in India for the duration of the course.

  4. Approval from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India stating that the institution is recognized for admitting foreign students for study of yoga, Vedic culture/Indian system of dance/music.

  5. Students are required to register with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival in India.

  6. Applicants must ensure that admission is sought in institutions affiliated to recognized boards /universities.

  7. Students who are already studying in India should produce the following documents along with their visa application:

  • Bonafide student certificate from the college/university.

  • Copy of residential permit/exit permit/Re-entry Visa issued by FRRO.

Work visa: Work visa is issued to Executive Posts and highly skilled and qualified professionals who are taking up assignment/employment with reputed Indian companies or parent/subsidiary companies registered in India.

  • Offer of appointment from the applicant’s employing company.

  • Copy of Employment Contract signed between the applicant and the Employer, showing the terms and conditions, nature of job, details of emoluments, tax related issues.

  • Letter from Indian Company justifying employment to foreign national in lieu of Indians for the same post in India.

  • Copies of documents relating to company's incorporation in India.

  • Recommendation from Iraqi company in case of transfer.

  • Resume/CV showing qualification and work experience of the applicant.


Journalist visa:
Journalist Visa is issued to professional journalists, photographers, film producers/directors (other than commercial films), representatives of radio or television channels, travel writers/photographers, etc. travelling to India. Journalists visiting India for any other purpose like tourism or medical treatment should also apply for Journalist Visa.

  • Declaration in respect of photography equipment being carried, if any.

  • Declaration in respect of engaging an Indian liaison officer (wherever applicable).

  • Journalists, editors, writers, publishers, etc. who are visiting India for purposes like tourism are requested to provide an undertaking that they would not engage in any journalistic or reporting activities during/ after their trip

Transit visa: Transit visas are issued for transiting through India. It is valid for 15 days from the date of issue of the Visa. Applicant is permitted to stay for only 72 hrs in transit. Transit Visas can't be obtained from immigration counters at ports of entry in India. Confirmed onward travel to a destination outside India is required. Passengers having a connecting flight for onward journey and who do not intend to leave the airport or pass through the Immigration do not need a Transit Visa. Documents required for Transit visa include:

  • Copy of confirmed tickets of onward journey from India.

  • For Seamen - Recommendation and invitation letters from the shipping companies in Baghdad/India stating details of 'joining' the concerned vessel.

Miscellaneous visa: Foreign nationals of Indian origin are eligible for Miscellaneous Visa which may be granted for a period of six months to five years depending on the purpose and the status of the applicant. Continuous stay beyond six months (180 days) require registration of himself/herself with the nearest Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within two weeks of arrival in India. Foreigners who are married to Indian Nationals are required to submit copy of Indian Passport of spouse along with a copy of marriage certificate.

Foreign nationals applying for visa for a purpose, which is not specifically covered under any visa category, will be issues Misc Visa for appropriate duration. Such a Visa may be granted with single entry and for the specific duration taking into account the purpose of visit. This Visa is only issued after prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

NOTE:

  1. Incomplete visa applications will not be accepted.

  2. Visa is not a right and it can be denied without assigning any reason.

  3. All Visas are valid from Date of Issue, not from date of arrival in India.

  4. Visa fee is processing charges. It cannot be refunded under any circumstances, whether Visa is denied or granted for a shorter period than applied for. Once Visa is granted, it cannot be changed or amended.

  5. Acceptance of Visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a Visa.

  6. Applicants must exit India before the date of expiry mentioned on the visa.

  7. Some fake websites are reported to be duping those who seek Visa for India. Therefore, it is requested that all visa, passport, consular and other services seekers should exercise utmost caution while accessing the websites for such services.   1. Please retain your original receipts and produce the same for return of passports.

  2. All travellers to India, especially long term, are advised to check the latest immigration and entry regulations before travel.

PAKISTANI NATIONALS AND PERSONS OF PAKISTANI ORIGIN

The following additional documents are required form Pakistani Nationals

(1) SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE is required for Visitor Visa by Pakistani Nationals

(2) ADDITIONAL FORM to be submitted by Pakistani Nationals and Persons of Pakistani origin.

USE OF SATELLITE PHONE IN INDIA

The use/operation of any satellite phones/devices including wireless in India is regulated by the Government. As per the existing guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, Inmarsat phones excluding BGAN system can be used only with prior permission from DoT. Thuraya satellite phone service is not permitted in India. Use of any unauthorised telegraphic devices including satellite phone is punishable in India.
