Celebrating this enduring legacy, “Nicobarese Cultural Continuity in the Central Group of Nicobar Islands” has been added to India’s UNESCO Tentative List! From traditional stilt houses and handcrafted canoes to vibrant communal festivals, ancestral rituals and sustainable ecological practices, this living cultural landscape reflects centuries of Indigenous knowledge, community solidarity and resilience, including the remarkable recovery from the devastating 2004 tsunami. A celebration of a heritage that continues to be lived, practiced and passed down through generations.

تراثٌ حيٌّ يجسّد الصمود والتقاليد والانسجام مع الطبيعة!

عبر المياه الفيروزية والمناظر الطبيعية الاستوائية لجزر نيكوبار، حافظت أجيال من مجتمعات "النيكوباريين" على نمط حياةٍ فريدٍ صاغته علاقتهم بالبحر، وحكمة أسلافهم، واحترامهم العميق للطبيعة.

واحتفاءً بهذا الإرث الراسخ، أُدرج ملف "الاستمرارية الثقافية للنيكوباريين في المجموعة الوسطى من جزر نيكوبار" ضمن القائمة التمهيدية لليونسكو في الهند!

بدءاً من المنازل التقليدية المرفوعة على ركائز خشبية، والزوارق المصنوعة يدوياً، وصولاً إلى المهرجانات المجتمعية النابضة بالحياة، والطقوس المتوارثة عن الأسلاف، والممارسات البيئية المستدامة؛ يعكس هذا المشهد الثقافي الحي قروناً من المعرفة الأصلية، والتضامن المجتمعي، والقدرة على الصمود - وهو ما تجلى بوضوح في تعافيهم المذهل بعد كارثة تسونامي عام 2004.

إنه احتفاءٌ بتراثٍ لا يزال حاضراً، يُمارَس ويُتوارث عبر الأجيال.
