The 11th International Day of Yoga under the theme ‘Yoga for one earth one health’ was celebrated on 21st June 2025 by the Embassy of India Baghdad in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Iraq. The 11th IDY was attended by nearly 300 Iraqi citizens from all walks of life, including Iraqi government officials, business community, young sports persons and yoga enthusiasts.

In the run-up to International Day of Yoga 2025, many yoga competitions were organised by the Embassy of India, Baghdad and the winners were awarded by cash prizes and certificates on the main IDY 2025 event.
The Embassy of India in Baghdad expresses its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Iraq for its valued support in celebrating the 11th International Day of Yoga. The Ministry of Youth & Sports was represented by Dr. Ahmed Saad Aliwi, DG, Department of Regional Affairs. In his remarks, Dr. Aliwi highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing collaboration with the Embassy of India to promote yoga, recognizing its global significance.
On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi highlighted the global significance of yoga, emphasizing its roots in ancient India and its role in fostering harmony of body, mind, and spirit. He noted that in today’s fast-paced world, yoga offers unity, resilience and a moment of stillness — reminding us of our shared humanity.

The 7th pre-#IDY25 yoga session was a burst of energy and inspiration! It took place on 23 May 2025 at Dr. Lumma Hossni Center, Baghdad, bringing together a vibrant mix of sports coaches, life coaches, passionate travelers and Iraqi yoga lovers ! Led by “Guru-shishya” Indian Yoga Expert Dr. Dheeraj Joshi and Noor Younus (Yoga TTC Trainee), the session embodied this year’s theme: Yoga for One Earth, One Health.
The 6th pre-#IDY25 yoga session was organized by the Embassy of India, in collaboration with Faize Husaini Association in Karbala, on 18 May 2025, as part of the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2025.
The Embassy of India in Baghdad organized the 5th pre-#IDY25 yoga session on May 14, 2025, in collaboration with Babylon Mall, as part of the celebrations leading up to the International Day of Yoga 2025.

As part of the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2025, the Embassy organized third inspiring pre #IDY25 yoga session on May 8 at Al-Ufaq Primary School. Teachers and students came together to embrace this year’s theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, promoting wellness, balance, and unity.
